Attorney Morgan, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, is a graduate of the University Missouri-Rolla with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Communications.  As an undergraduate student, Tawanna was known to be a student leader and activist. She served as Treasurer, Vice-President and President of the student National Society of Black Engineers.  Additionally she was elected as Treasurer of the Association of Black Students, founded the annual Dinner to Jazz event, and was an active member of the Voices of Inspiration Choir.  As Co-Chairman of the Diversity Committee she was a voting member of the Student Council Executive Board.  She was appointed by the Dean of the School of Engineering as a student member of the African American Recruitment and Retention Committee.  Tawanna is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, and was an officer in the Sigma Delta Chapter.

After her graduation, Attorney Morgan accepted an engineering position with General Motors in Michigan before relocating to Georgia.  Attorney Morgan also worked as a Quality Engineer for both Panasonic and Eaton companies.  Despite her success as an engineer, Attorney Morgan decided to attend law school and pursue a career that she felt would allow her to help people on a daily basis.  Attorney Morgan’s tenacity and determination was evidenced by her ability to successfully balance the responsibilities of being a full-time engineer, a law student, and single mother.  Attorney Morgan graduated from Georgia State University College of Law in 2007.  Attorney Morgan is an active member of First Afrikan Presbyterian Church and a member of the National Coalition of Blacks for Reparations in America.
