Holiday Affair 2023

Our Annual Holiday Affair was held Friday, December 8, 2023, at Porter Sanford III Performing Arts and Community Center located at 3183 Rainbow Drive, Decatur, GA 30034. Our guest started arriving at 8:00 pm and partied well past 12:30 am.

 

We also presented the following awards:

 

• Ira Foster. Georgia Legal Services received the Outstanding Service to Humanity Award for his hard work and devotion in serving our Black youth, particularly students at our Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Attorney Foster's commitment and efforts to end the School to Prison Pipeline and create opportunities for African American students to attend law school warrant this recognition. His work is vital to the growth and development of diversity in the legal profession and beyond.

• Terrica Ganzy. Southern Center for Human Rights and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys received the Excellence in Advocacy Award for being a true servant leader in our community. She works every day to transform the criminal legal system through direct representation and policy advocacy. Terrica’s commitment to this change warrants this recognition. 

• Portia Burner. Fox 5 News, TV personality and journalist, received the Exemplar of Black Excellence Award. Portia ensures that our stories and voices are heard. She uses her platform on “Portia” to empower and inspire people who value daily positivity.

• Babba Alvin Dollar. A relentless freedom fighter, community and political organizer, was posthumously awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award 2023. Baba Dollar dedicated his life to service and uplifting African American manhood with love and kindness. Sadly, Baba Alvin Dollar transitioned on December 4, 2023. He will truly be missed. Gone but never forgotten.
